Where rivers and streams come together, oceans are born to carry you wherever you wish to go.
Teams are being recruited this year in Portland area schools in partnership with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.
High School fishing teams are about competition, recreation, and caring for the environment.
They help students develop lifelong skills, foster a sense of community and encourage outdoor engagement.
Join us- Whether you mentor, partner, participate, or donate, your involvement will help shape the next generation of passionate, responsible anglers in Oregon!
This program offers students:
Connection with nature-based education (Curriculum includes the importance of aquatic ecosystems, fish habitats, conservation practices, and more.);
Fishing education from beginner to advanced (including but not limited to fishing gear, casting, catching techniques, knot tying, species identification, responsible fishing, and water safety);
Knowledge about sustainable fishing;
Mentorship from certified fishing guides and educators;
Hands-on team practices and workshops;
Recreational fishing field trips and team competitions;
Competition opportunities in local and regional tournaments;
Valuable skill building and leadership experiences;
Community engagement activities;
Information on scholarship and recognition possibilities;
Team environment cultivating friendships and a sense of community.
Beyond the above list of program offerings, high school fishing teams offer tangible, multifaceted benefits encompassing teamwork, skill enhancement, and environmental awareness.
